Steve Kanzer serves as the chairman and CEO of the New York-based venture capital firm Accredited Ventures, Inc., which he founded in 2001. Outside his obligations to the firm, Steve Kanzer supports the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC), the largest and oldest private cancer center in the world. The MSKCC offers a number of events for patients and their families affected by cancer, such as the monthly Gathering for Brain Tumor Survivors.
An open discussion and support group, the gathering enables survivors of a primary brain tumor and their families to find comfort and compassion in one another in a safe, confidential environment. Participants can discuss and find support for a wide array of life challenges and adjustments after completing treatment, including seizure activity, treatment and medication side effects, concerns about recurrence, and impacts on friends and family. Although brain tumor survivors may invite family members and caretakers, observers cannot attend without prior approval in order to preserve the confidentiality of the meetings.
Gatherings occur monthly at the MSKCC offices, although specific room locations vary month-to-month. Meetings may also feature guest speakers. For more information about Gathering for Brain Tumor Survivors dates and other support groups, visit mskcc.org/event.
